The opinions of thousands of customers collected in our physical stores and on our website throughout the year.- The classification of all customers who have purchased each of the mattress models featured in the ranking, based on their body type and firmness preferences.
- The number of returns and incidents recorded for each of our mattresses during the study period.
- The results of the SleepTest® or 'pressure relief test' that we carry out exclusively in each of our stores with people of all body types for every mattress model in the ranking.
Why Do We Do It This Way?
After many years of studying our customers' behaviour when testing the different mattresses displayed in our stores, we have reached the following conclusion:
When a sleeper of a particular sex and BMI tests a mattress, the sensations they experience are very similar to those experienced by another sleeper of the same sex and BMI.
However, when the sleeper's BMI changes, or when both their sex and BMI change, the sensations experienced can differ much more from one sleeper to another. Based on this principle, we can state that:
A person who is similar to you is much more likely to recommend a mattress that they find most comfortable and that you will also enjoy than someone whose characteristics are completely different from yours.
Why Do These Values Change in Our Best Mattress Ranking?
A mattress's firmness level is a highly subjective concept, directly linked to factors such as how weight is distributed throughout the body (BMI) and the sex of the person testing the mattress.
In our ranking, we distinguish between 5 different BMI types for men and 5 BMI types for women. This gives us a total of 10 sleeper profiles, which we believe represent more than 95% of users in this country.

Not exactly. In most mattress retailers, consumer associations and specialist sleep stores that compile these lists (including our own rankings from previous years), the firmness ratings shown refer to average values.
This means that they refer to the most common sensation customers experience when testing each of these mattresses. In other words, they provide a general opinion without differentiating according to body type, sex or sleeping habits.
Why Had We Never Made This Distinction Before?
The problem was that we did not know how to make this information easy to understand in a simple and practical way, so that everyone committed to finding a quality mattress for better sleep could do so using our best mattress guide.

Since the beginning of 2019, we have subjected each of the mattresses that make up our current ranking to a rigorous study.
The analysis involved carrying out complete traceability of every unit sold for each model, from the moment of purchase until the mattress was delivered and had completed the 100-night trial period.
